buildings
As a result buildings need to be protected from winds and humidity.
- A chimney might play vital role, the heated rooms are located around it
- High pitch and roof overhangs are prefered because of the need to protect from the frequent precipitation. (example of Danish island Fano - the overhangs clad in pipes or straw, or the example of Ireland - clad to more lasting stone materials)
- Walls of bricks.
- Small windows in order to protect from cold and winds where the spaces are exposed to and large where not, to allow the entrance of daylight especially during winter.
- In some cases, as the example of Southern England, the Northen France and the Northen Spain buffer zones are created using light structures and especially glass.
Comfort as defined by Fnager: depends on six factors
"Indoor climate is a multi-dimensional play of xomplex inter-acting factors which include both natural and artificial conditions".
- air temperature
- radiation temperature
- air movement
- relative humidity
- metabolism or energy conversion
- thermal qualities of clothing
